Environment Programme (EnvPro) is an NGO working on the preservation of species and habitats, improvement of natural resources use, improvement of quality of life and human well being and building of a sustainable future for all. The organization was established in October 2015 by professionals in the field of environment, research, planning and capacity development with high aspirations of positive socio-economic and environmental changes in Montenegro and Southeast Europe, where it primarily works. EnvPro aims also to be connected internationally to enable use and testing of advanced scientific knowledge, experiences and tools in the pursuit of its mission and in its strive towards empowerment of local stakeholders and organizations.

Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development

Planning, management, and monitoring of biodiversity, and promotion of sectors that contribute to sustainability, including eco-tourism, rural development, energy efficiency, and sustainable agriculture.

Policy and Institutional Development

Adjustment and improvement of institutional frameworks, policies, and governance mechanisms to ensure effective implementation of sustainable development and environmentally responsible practices.

Socio-Economic Analysis and Strategic Planning

Research and dynamic analysis of socio-economic factors related to sustainable development to support evidence-based planning, decision-making, and long-term impact assessment.

Community Empowerment and Participatory Development

Strengthening capacities of local communities, organizations, and institutions to actively participate in planning processes and to ensure equitable access to and distribution of socio-economic and environmental benefits.

Youth Engagement, Volunteerism, and Multi-Sectoral Cooperation

Promotion of a multi-sectoral approach through mediation, volunteerism, youth education, and encouragement of active civic participation in sustainable development efforts.

Social Inclusion, Equity, and Gender-Sensitive Development

Capacity building focused on youth, vulnerable groups, and fair socio-economic distribution, integrating gender equality and social justice principles into sustainable development initiatives.

Partnerships and Institutional Cooperation

Cooperation and networking with non-governmental organizations, public institutions, local and national authorities, relevant ministries, and international partners in Montenegro and abroad.

  • Lead the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve nomination for the Skadar Lake Watershed (Montenegro–Albania), strengthening governance frameworks for sustainable development;
  • Designed and piloted collaborative governance models and OECMs, improving institutional mechanisms for accountable conservation.
  • Conducted 3 Nature-based Solutions (NbS) feasibility studies to guide sustainable development and climate resilience planning;
  • One NbS tested, and two under way
    Reintroduced two endemic and threatened plant species, improving their conservation status through science-based management;
  • Established a botanical garden in Nature Park Orjen to support biodiversity conservation and education;
    Developed and implemented one sustainable tourism product, linking biodiversity protection with local community economic development;
  • Supported sustainable agriculture through equipment and technical assistance to local communities.
  • Developed two feasibility programmes for solar in urban areas and offshore wind energy
  • Developed and piloted a citizen science and education biomonitoring programme, empowering communities to participate in environmental monitoring and protection; scale up under way.
  • Developed educational Album with stickers for Ćemovsko field biodiversity.
  • Strengthened local stakeholder engagement through participatory conservation planning and implementation.
  • Supported community-based learning that promote vision, conservation objectives, equitable access to resources and benefits;
  • Promoted inclusive participation, including youth and vulnerable groups, in conservation and sustainable livelihood initiatives.
