Jelena Marojević Galić

President of the Assembly, strategic alignment

Jelena Marojević Galić is a biologist with more than twenty years of professional experience in nature conservation and protected area management in Montenegro and the Dinarides region. Within the Environment Programme, she serves as the President of the Assembly, providing support for its strategic development and long-term direction.

She is professionally engaged with the organization Parks Dinarides -  Network of protected areas of Dinarides,  where she develops and leads national and regional projects aimed at strengthening the capacity of protected area managers, improving management practices, and collaborating with local communities.

Throughout her career, she has been actively involved with numerous national and regional bodies and advisory structures in the field of nature conservation, including the Coordination Body for the Improvement of Protected Area Management in Montenegro, the Council for the Development of Management Plans for the Brown Bear, as well as the Advisory Body of the Piva Nature Park. She has particular experience in the preparation and revision of strategic and planning documents, such as management plans, baseline studies, action plans, and strategic analyses in the field of biodiversity and sustainable development.

Jelena is a long-standing member of national and international expert networks, including the IUCN SSC Bear Specialist Group, where she contributes to brown bear conservation through research, knowledge sharing, and capacity building for relevant stakeholders. She is also active as a lecturer and trainer, participating in the organization and implementation of numerous educational programs, workshops, and conferences dedicated to nature conservation and protected area management.
