Through the project Balkans Waters: bioindicators, education and tourism which the Environment Programme (EnvPro) implemented in the territory of the Nature Park “Zeta River”, it focused on advanced approaches to the protection and improvement of this area…
Significant results of this project that will contribute to this are:
- The Aplication, intended for the implementation of a biomonitoring program on the territory of this area,
- which enables the recognition and input of data on bioindicator species sensitive to changes in the environment. The goal is to
- collect relevant data on these important indicators of the preservation of this ecosystem in order to take protective measures. The application is adapted to different user profiles, with accompanying protocol and instructions for implementing the biomonitoring program.
- Guide for biomonitoring, which is intended for educational institutions in order to implement such and similar activities in nature.
- At four locations on the territory of this protected area, through this project, EnvPro has installed educational boards, which will provide visitors with guidelines on how they can contribute to the protection and preservation of the Zeta River
The project was implemented in cooperation with the global environmental organization The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and was supported by the United States Forest Service (USFS).
