We are proud and happy to share that the Skadar Lake Watershed — stretching from the source of the Morača River to the Adriatic Sea — has officially been designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve! The designation also includes the Albanian part of the Skadar Lake, recognizing the area's connectivity and shared natural and cultural heritage.

As Environmental Programme (EnvPro), we are honored to have initiated and coordinated this journey together with numerous dedicated individuals, institutions, and organizations from Montenegro and Albania.

This designation is not only an international recognition of the outstanding values of the region, but a commitment to a more sustainable future for people. It comes with a responsibility to put the resources toward the smart use and support livelihoods of local communities.
