- Integrated Danube Environmental Assessment and Monitoring for Nature-Based Solutions (IDEAM NBS)
The IDEAM NBS project aims to collect and evaluate a wide array of data sources to enhance nature-based solutions (NBS) implementation within the Danube catchment area. Project brings together a consortium of dedicated partners to create a decision-support tool that functions as an online GIS platform. This tool is designed to facilitate the identification, planning, and execution of natural water retention and landscape enhancement measures.
The project objectives are:
- To integrate in-situ monitoring data, remote sensing, national-level reports, and modelling data into the IDEAM NBS tool.
- To partner with state environmental agencies for access to national data, aiming for the standardization/harmonization of data formats across the Danube catchment area.
- To utilize European research projects and remote sensing data to assess floodplain areas and identify potential sites for NBS implementation.
- To address challenges such as flood prevention, drought issues in agricultural landscapes, and water quality enhancement through the application of NBS.
The project will be implemented with partners and across countries including the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Funded by EU Interreg Danube.
